Often times, our patients at Klinik Pergigian Dr Ching, always ask us about how to take good care of the teeth after whitening so that they last longer. Hence, today we would like to share with you on some care tips after teeth whitening.
The first 72 hours, it’s better to avoid the below:
- Avoid dark or strong colored liquids like Coffee, Tea, Red Wine, Beer, Sodas, tomato juice
- Avoid eating dark sauces like soy sauce, red pasta sauce, barbecue sauce, ketchup.
- Avoid colourful spices like curry, paprika, turmeric
- Avoid red meat
- Avoid dark chocolate
- Avoid acidic food / sour fruit juice such as orange, lemon, limes, or any other citrus fruit flavours.
- Advise to use straws if drinking juice or teeth-stanning beverages
- Rinse Mouth after eating anything
You may want to consider trying a “white diet”, which includes foods that are white in color or colorless for 10-14 days following your treatment.
Foods you can eat:
- Plain yogurt
- White rice
- Uncolored pasta
- White fish (cod, tilapia, haddock, etc.)
- Chicken
- Tofu
- Oatmeal
- Cereal without any artificial coloring or dyes
- Egg whites
- Potatoes
- Almonds
- Cashews
- Cauliflower
- Chickpeas
- Cheese without any artificial coloring or dyes
- Pears
- Bananas
- Vanilla ice cream
- White chocolate
Beverages you can drink:
- Still or sparkling water (unflavored)
- Milk
- Coconut water
- Coconut wilk
A good rule of thumb is if it’ll stain a shirt, it’ll also stain your teeth. By avoiding these foods, you can ensure your teeth will remain white for much longer.
